The World's Largest Buffalo Resides in North Dakota
04 August 2023
Since 1959, the world’s largest buffalo has stood tall by the side of the interstate in Jamestown, North Dakota. In 2010 the buffalo received a fitting name: “Dakota Thunder”.
Dakota Thunder isn’t alone on the hill. You’ll also find the National Buffalo Museum and an attraction named Frontier Village; a mixture of shopping and museum exhibits with an old-west theme.
A herd of regular sized buffalo also live nearby. There’s a set of binoculars behind Dakota Thunder and, if you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of them.
How to get there
Address: 404 Louis Lamour Ln, Jamestown, ND 58401
Directions: Park at Frontier Village and walk down the street to Dakota Thunder.
