Since 1959, the world’s largest buffalo has stood tall by the side of the interstate in Jamestown, North Dakota. In 2010 the buffalo received a fitting name: “Dakota Thunder”.

Dakota Thunder isn’t alone on the hill. You’ll also find the National Buffalo Museum and an attraction named Frontier Village; a mixture of shopping and museum exhibits with an old-west theme.

A herd of regular sized buffalo also live nearby. There’s a set of binoculars behind Dakota Thunder and, if you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of them.
